Artsy Stuff
Florida Vacation - Part 2
by Susan on Jan.08, 2010, under Artsy Stuff, My Family
I was going to post this yesterday, but then life happened, so here it is today. :o)
This is the view we woke up to just about every morning - shot while standing on my bedroom balcony.

And a couple more pictures of the beauty that surrounded us all week.

It took two tries, on two separate nights, to get some family pictures down at the ocean. The first try resulted in chopped limbs and several out of focus pictures. The second try may have ended in better results if Jubilee hadn’t been so opposed to the idea, as you can see from the second picture. So, the keeper is the first one, I do believe.

And, of course, here is Nick doing what Nick does:

One last picture I snapped while walking back up from the beach, after sunset:

My final portfolio is due on Thursday and I’m pretty sure that it will consist of the following pictures. These have all been taken between May 12 and July 13.

Fun with water
by Susan on Jun.22, 2009, under Artsy Stuff
I have always had fun photographing water, so I thought I’d turn another one of my class assignments into a water project. These are pictures of high color contrast (magenta/green, blue/yellow, red/cyan). So, just for the fun of it, here they are:

Better Late than Never — Florida!
by Susan on May.31, 2009, under Artsy Stuff, My Family
The girls and I had the pleasure of going to Florida with Nick’s mom, to visit Nick’s grandma. We had a lovely time and have lots of pictures! We went to the zoo, played at Grandma Jan’s house, and saw the sunset over the ocean. It was lovely!
First, the Zoo. I have so many pictures, so I’m really just picking a few. We saw lions, and tigers, and hilarious monkeys. Here are some pretty birds:

And here is Jubilee with Grandma Patty.

And a gorgeous gardenia bush! This thing was HUGE. I took this picture for my mom because she loves gardenias.

And the feeding of the alligators. It was really fun to see. I was very thankful for my 50-250 mm lens at this point, even though it isn’t the best lens in the world, to say the least. :o)

Next up: Hanging out at Grandma Jan’s. Alexis had a grand time in the swimming pool every day.

Jubilee, on the other hand, just wanted to climb in and out and around everything. It was driving me a little crazy. But she had so much fun.

Grandma Jan with the girls.

And, here are some flowers I found just walking around the backyard. So pretty!

And, one of my favorite parts of the trip! Playing at the beach, and seeing the sun set over the ocean.
